OUR Lake Peten Itza Clays

Studies found that some of Lake Peten Itza Clays date back to as far  the Glacial Period, more than 120,000 years ago, and go on up to younger clays that date closer to only 2,000 years old. Having identified over 13 varieties which are so clean and  balanced, you can dig it out of the ground with your bare hands and use it as it is.

Many of the clays when put side by side can be clearly seen to be some of the same clays the lost ancient Mayan civilization used.  As you walk along you can pick up handfuls of  ancient broken ceramics just laying there on the ground. Turning them over in your fingers, one cannot help but to imagine the hands that made them.

In honor of this ancient tradition, in an area which was once a land with thriving bustling  communities full of life, we think is more than appropriate that the clays of Peten Itza become one of its central icons once again.
